Welcome to the home of

WONS 2010 special session: Wireless Body Area Networks (WBAN)

February 3-5, 2010. Kranjska Gora, Slovenia

The special session is initiated by FP7 Project Prosense (Promote, Mobilize, Reinforce and Integrate Wireless Sensor Networking Research and Researchers: Towards Pervasive Networking of WBC and the EU). Its aim is to address all issues related to using wearable/wireless and implantable sensors and to bring together scientists from computing, electronics, bioengineering, medicine and industry in order to discuss the latest technological developments and applications of body sensors.

SCOPE

Body Wireless Sensor Networks (BWSN) are integrated from intelligent physiological sensors, located or implanted on a body. They are faced with severe limitations in power consumption, range, bandwidth and biocompatibility. BWSN have applications in health monitoring, postoperative rehabilitation, sport analysis, etc. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Novel approaches in biological sensor design
- Implantable, adhesive, wearable sensors and biocompatibility
- Sensor data fusion and compression
- Wireless propagation and channel modeling and characterization
- Wireless body sensor networking
- Communication techniques and protocols
- QoS, standards and security
- Energy scavenging, battery technology, miniaturization
- Development and simulation tools
- Experimental systems and applications

PhD STUDENTS

We encourage PhD students to submit papers describing their work. The paper should clearly formulate the research problem, detail the current solutions to this problem, explain why the existing work is not sufficient and why the proposed work is significant in the field of research, and what is the new contribution of the student work. Perspective papers will have the opportunity to be presented on the conference or, if accepted by reviewers, included in the regular program. Limited financial support is available for students. Please note, if student support is needed.

DATES

Due dates, paper formats and the submission procedure is the same as for WONS2010. The submitted papers will undergo similar reviewing procedure as the regular papers. The accepted papers will be published in the WONS2010 proceedings.

Paper registration (title+abstract): September 25th, 2009
Full Paper Submission: October 15th, 2009
Acceptance notification: November 17th, 2009
Camera-ready due: December 7th, 2009
